I almost quit my business last year. 🙈
After months of showing up, creating content, hosting workshops, and having countless connection calls that didn’t convert, I stood in my kitchen and seriously wondered if I was fooling myself. Maybe I wasn’t cut out for this work after all?
Have you ever felt that way? Like you’re standing in a dry riverbed, yearning for the flow of success but seeing nothing but cracked earth?
It’s frustrating when you’ve been doing “all the right things” but the results just aren’t materializing.
What I didn’t realize then—and what I want to share with you today—is that success often works like water in nature. It builds up slowly, invisibly, and then suddenly arrives with momentum that can surprise you.
Last week during a coaching session, my client Jessica (a practice manager feeling burnout after two years of implementing changes with minimal recognition) had a breakthrough that reminded me of this truth. She’d been ready to switch careers entirely when suddenly her team stepped up in a crisis, using the very systems she’d patiently built.
“I almost missed it,” she told me. “I was so focused on what wasn’t working that I nearly walked away right before everything clicked.”
The truth about perseverance isn’t just that it’s important, it’s that it’s HARDEST right before the breakthrough. 💦
Here’s what I’ve learned that might help if you’re in that dry riverbed moment:
-
Perseverance isn’t just about pushing harder. Sometimes it means stepping back to ensure your actions align with your goals. Are you doing the right things, or just doing a lot of things?
-
The most important element is often invisible: your energy and belief. When we start doubting ourselves, we subtly shift our energy from creation to protection—and this affects everything from how we show up to how others respond to us.
-
Success rarely arrives on our timeline. Nature has its own rhythm, and so does your journey. Trust the process, especially when it feels uncomfortable.
I’m curious… where in your life or leadership are you currently needing some perseverance? What would change if you trusted that the water was already on its way?
I know how challenging it can be to maintain faith in your journey when you can’t yet see the results. The mind wants evidence before belief, but ironically, our energy and belief often need to shift first before the evidence appears.
This is precisely where coaching creates its magic.
Together, we can identify what might be blocking your river’s flow, clarify what success truly looks like for you, and create strategies that honor both your goals and your well-being.
Whether you’re leading a team through transition, seeking more fulfillment in your career, or simply wanting to rediscover joy in your daily life—I’m here to walk alongside you.
