Here’s Why Being 99% In Creates 100% Frustration😤

Two years.

That’s how long it took me to step away from practicing veterinary medicine. 💭

I didn’t plan it that way. In my mind, I’d just… transition. One day I’d be a full-time vet, and the next I’d be a full-time coach and speaker. Simple, right?

Reality check: There’s nothing simple about shifting your identity when it’s been woven into the fabric of who you are for 26 years.

Here’s what actually happened: I hung onto practicing medicine like a security blanket. I kept one foot firmly planted in the clinic while trying to sprint toward my new life. And honestly? It nearly broke me.

Because here’s the truth about being 99% committed to something:

That 1% doubt becomes 100% of your focus.

Think about it:

  • You’re 99% committed to eating healthier, but that 1% keeps eyeing the fries 🍟

  • You’re 99% committed to your new business, but that 1% keeps applying for “just one more” job 💹

  • You’re 99% committed to setting boundaries, but that 1% keeps saying “yes” when you mean “no” 🚫

That tiny percentage? It’s not small. It’s the tail wagging the dog. It’s the subconscious commitment that’s actually running the show.

I thought I was being smart by continuing to spend my days in veterinary hospitals, “just in case.”

What I was really doing was giving my fear a VIP seat at the decision-making table. My identity as “Dr. Edwards” wasn’t ready to expand into this new version of me. 🩺

Here’s what I discovered when I finally let go:

When you’re 100% committed, the universe has a funny way of conspiring in your favor. 🌟

I still practice occasionally – helping at the shelter, covering at clinics I know well. But the energy has completely shifted. I’m no longer practicing from a place of fear or obligation. I’m practicing from choice. 🐾

Those “what if” scenarios I was protecting against? They were ghosts made of fear, not reality.

The game-changer: Recognizing that my subconscious commitments were far more powerful than my conscious goal-setting.

Once I uncovered what that 1% was really protecting, I could thank it for its service and gently show it the door. Suddenly, the path forward became clear. The shackles I didn’t even realize I was wearing fell away.

Possibilities that seemed out of reach before were now available. Goals that felt elusive became achievable. I felt free to consciously create what I wanted.

Now, I help others discover their own hidden commitments. Because chances are, if you’re feeling stuck or drained, there’s a 1% somewhere that’s actually calling the shots. %

Want to know the secret?

It’s not about pushing harder.
It’s about getting curious about what you’re protecting by staying at 99%.
