A Historically New Perspective ~ The Empowering Context of Choice ~

I visited an old Irish castle today. I am blown away by the magnitude of even a “modest castle” and the intricacies of the stonework, carvings and décor that would never go into modern construction.

Even more fascinating are the stories. Our tour guide led us through tales of many generations of families, births, deaths, and wars starting back in the 1500’s. There were stories of disease, betrayals, beheadings, cousins marrying cousins, and even a time when two sisters raced horses to determine who took ownership of the castle because they just could not get along well enough to live together.

These stories would be amazing fodder for modern day reality TV and the best gossip channels on social media. As my mind ventured centuries into the past, I was reminded that the world of human drama, violence and conflict is nothing new.

What is new is that we now have much more choice in how we experience our lives and our world.

While I wish we could magically zap away all of the troubles out there, we can’t. But what we can do is work on ourselves and shift how we show up in the world.

More than ever we have access to spiritual teachings (outside of religion), personal development, therapies, and coaching. We have the opportunity to raise our awareness, shift our perspectives, connect to our higher selves & inner love, and move beyond our self defeating stories and limitations.

We can choose to move towards living happier and more peaceful lives and as a result put out higher levels of energy to those around us.

More and more people are waking up and learning ways of viewing life to which I suspect the early residents of that castle did not have access.

The world is troubled. The world has always been troubled. We can hold hope that someday it will be less troubled. In the meantime, consider that you can choose to be less troubled within the world as it is. You can go within, reclaim your power, elevate your peace and happiness and shed your light on your world.
