To say that autumn in New England is spectacular, is an understatement. It is absolutely breathtaking this time of year to take in the magnificence and brilliance of the colors.
Nature understands that the cycle of change, birth, ending and beginning again are all beautiful components of the natural way of the universe.
The trees will shed all their leaves only to stand cold and bare,
yet go through the process of change with incredible grace.
As they prepare to lose everything, trees respond with immense beauty, the likes of which very little on this planet can compare. They know without a doubt, that they will begin again. They will not look the same in the spring. It will be different, and that is ok.
Animals relish the warmer months when food is plentiful and they can live and care for their young with ease. As the temperature starts to drop, they get busy preparing for winter and do what is needed to get through until the new season emerges. They understand that the quiet, cold winter is a part of their life and is necessary for them to experience the lushness and the beauty of spring. They experience autumn as a time to embrace the coming cold.
Animals don’t argue or complain.
The deer, squirrels, insects, and snakes accept what is, as it is.
They are not victims. They just live.
Yet somehow we as humans with a seemingly greater capacity of knowing and understanding, do not live this way. We do not embrace what life brings to us and instead we resist with fear. We create stories of what should and should not be, based on no real truth, which serve only to bring anxiety, depression and stress.
Plants and animals do not create stories or resist.
They prepare and deal with hardship, then emerge to begin again.
We have forgotten that we are a part of the cycle of all things. We have learned to fear change and resist chapters in our lives coming to an end.
What if you could live in peace and learn to embrace all that life has to offer?
… including all of the endings, beginnings, goodbyes, and everything in between? When you embrace what is, even when it is painful, you are able to connect inside to your true self and find peace.
You will find joy in life, as it was meant to be lived when you choose to drop your stories. The stories are your prison that keep you chained to the past, the future, or to fantasies that have never and will never exist.
By embracing what is, you are embracing what is now, and now is all that ever will be.
Embracing change, does not mean that you have to like it.
There are many things in life that we do not like, yet provide opportunities to learn and grow. If we liked every moment, life would be boring without the contrast that allows us to experience joy. Liking something is not required for accepting and it is in the acceptance that we find freedom.
Utilize your difficulties, down time, and emptiness as an opportunity to renew, reflect and create what the spring of your life will bring.
Unlike the animals, you do have a say. You do have the power to create.
Choose to express each and every beautiful color that you are, inside and out, with all of the splendor and beauty that is your essence.
Take life on with brilliance and know that your spring is coming!
